Porsche G-Series 911

The G-Series covers fifteen model years and three distinct engines: the early 2.7, the 3.0 SC from 1978, and the 3.2 Carrera from 1984. Porsche began galvanising bodyshells in 1976, which is why these survive in better structural shape than the cars that came before them.

One detail moves prices more than any other: the G50 gearbox, fitted from 1987, replaced the older 915 unit and is materially nicer to drive. A 1987-89 3.2 Carrera commands a clear premium over an otherwise identical 1986 car for that reason alone.
